Our first calf of 2017 is born

So lambing went well in March and this week we welcomed our first calf of the year. Its mother is an expert now so the female calf was born without any trouble, she is quite protective over her new baby so we are leaving them to get to know each other in the field without interfering too much! The Red Poll is a dual-purpose breed of cattle developed in England in the latter half of the 19th century. It is a cross of the Norfolk Red beef cattle and Suffolk Dun dairy cattle breeds. We also have 280 sheep and approximately 500 lambs on the farm at the moment as well as a super friendly cat, Biggy and equally friendly dog, Minnie.

We are also lucky to located close to three awesome petting farms if you are looking for a fun family day out whilst staying at Elm Tree Farm:
